W3C setup a standard to make compatibility of different widget implementation(Google, Yahoo, Netfront, Opera...). These standards includes:
Widgets-Packaging
Widgets-DigSig
Widgets-Updates
Widgets-APIs
Widgets-Security
Once the standard finalized, different widget engine should modified to make the standard widget run on it.
